Cover vs. Cover: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

I've been seeing this every so often on blogs and decided to do one of my own!
Basically, I take two different covers of the same book (whether they be from different countries or just cover changes) and  pick which is is the best!
For my first pick I am doing...
Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)       VS.    Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)
Original                                                           Redesign

The first one is an okay cover, but the annoying thing about it is that it's just a girl in a runway dress.
Sure, the background and the title art make you of shattered glass (which is somewhat relevant to the book) but the dress just doesn't work...
The redesign is obviously beautiful! While an eyeball doesn't really have anything to do with the book, it is still an amazing cover!

Final Verdict: REDESIGN

Waiting on Wednesday: All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, where you talk about whatever book you are IMPATIENTLY WAITING for!
This week I am waiting for...

All Our YesterdaysGoodreads Description:
"You have to kill him." Imprisoned in the heart of a secret military base, Em has nothing except the voice of the boy in the cell next door and the list of instructions she finds taped inside the drain.

Only Em can complete the final instruction. She’s tried everything to prevent the creation of a time machine that will tear the world apart. She holds the proof: a list she has never seen before, written in her own hand. Each failed attempt in the past has led her to the same terrible present—imprisoned and tortured by a sadistic man called the doctor while war rages outside.

Marina has loved her best friend James since the day he moved next door when they were children. A gorgeous, introverted science prodigy from one of America’s most famous families, James finally seems to be seeing Marina in a new way, too. But on one disastrous night, James’s life crumbles apart, and with it, Marina’s hopes for their future. Now someone is trying to kill him. Marina will protect James, no matter what. Even if it means opening her eyes to a truth so terrible that she may not survive it. At least not as the girl she once was.

REVIEW: A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young

A Need So Beautiful (A Need So Beautiful, #1)
We all want to be remembered. Charlotte's destiny is to be forgotten.

Charlotte's best friend thinks Charlotte might be psychic. Her boyfriend thinks she's cheating on him. But Charlotte knows what's really wrong: She is one of the Forgotten, a kind of angel on earth who feels the Need - a powerful, uncontrollable draw to help someone, usually a stranger.

But Charlotte never wanted this responsibility. What she wants is to help her best friend, whose life is spiraling out of control. She wants to lie in her boyfriend's arms forever. But as the Need grows stronger, it begins to take a dangerous toll on Charlotte. And who she was, is, and will become - her mark on this earth, her very existence - is in jeopardy of disappearing completely.

Charlotte will be forced to choose: Should she embrace her fate as a Forgotten, a fate that promises to rip her from the lives of those she loves forever? Or is she willing to fight against her destiny - no matter how dark the consequences?

Charlotte is one of the forgotten.
A kind of angel that this "Need" to help people.
Whether it's someone whose about to commit suicide or someone whose guilty of a crime.
Charlotte's job is to get them do the right thing.
Cool right?
But it's not that easy.
Eventually you will start to fade.
At first people will only forget things like something you said or a memory about you from years ago.
Until no one even remembers you.
Not your friends, family, anyone.
You will cease to have ever existed.
It's easy to see why Charlotte doesn't want this to happen.

I really did like the idea behind this book!
It was such a new an original concept on angels!
So why did I only give this book 2 stars?
Well... Charlotte had a boyfriend.
It was one of those relationships where they were like "we are going to be together forever!"

I'm sorry ,children, but you do realize that YOU'RE STILL IN HIGHSCHOOL!!!
It's relationships like this that always make me wanna yell "IT ISN'T GONNA LAST!!"
Thankfully, this was a cute/sappy/annoying relationship unlike those creepy/stalker/pedophile relationships that are oh so popular in YA fiction.
So thumbs up for them!

I hereby give this book:
2.5 Wheels
Meaning: It was okay, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to.

REVIEW: In the After by Demitria Lunetta

In the After (In the After #1)
They hear the most silent of footsteps.
They are faster than anything you've ever seen.
And They won't stop chasing you...until you are dead.

Amy is watching TV when it happens, when the world is attacked by Them. These vile creatures are rapidly devouring mankind. Most of the population is overtaken, but Amy manages to escape—and even rescue “Baby,” a toddler left behind in the chaos. Marooned in Amy’s house, the girls do everything they can to survive—and avoid Them at all costs.

After years of hiding, they are miraculously rescued and taken to New Hope, a colony of survivors living in a former government research compound. While at first the colony seems like a dream with plenty of food, safety, and shelter, New Hope slowly reveals that it is far from ideal. And Amy soon realizes that unless things change, she’ll lose Baby—and much more.

Rebellious, courageous, and tender, this unforgettable duo will have you on the edge of your seat as you tear through the pulse-pounding narrow escapes and horrifying twists of fate in this thrilling debut from author Demitria Lunetta.

I feel left out in the way that everyone else seems to love this book.
Did I like this book? Yes. Did I love it? No.
I see this book as being separated into two parts:
PART ONE:

Shows how Amy survived "the After" so far and how she discovered Baby (A little girl). I enjoyed this part. I liked hearing about how Amy survived this new world and how she and Baby became sisters to each other.
While reading the first part, I thought I just discovered a new favorite.

PART TWO:

Part two is much larger than part one.
This part takes place after the rescue and it shows how life is in the utopia of New Hope.
This part also switches in a way that it shows what is happening "presently", after the rescue, and what will happen in the future.
I found this really interesting. I kept flipping the pages because I had to know howAmy got to that point!

What made me not enjoy the 2nd part is hard to tell. Was it the predictability? The dragging on? Maybe a little bit of both.

Another thing that I would like to mention is that there is a "romance". I put that in quotations because I was never quite sure if the feelings were of the romantic type. There was one kiss and then there's absolutely no mention of it again and no hint of anymore romance. I just think that it might have been better if there was no "romance".

Conclusion:

I actually did enjoy most of the book but I just couldn't put myself to like the 2nd part.
I will be continuing this series!

I hereby give this book...
3 Wheels!
Meaning: I liked it, but it wasn't quite amazing.
