REVIEW: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue never sees them--until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks to her.

His name is Gansey, a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can't entirely explain. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul whose emotions range from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She doesn't believe in true love, and never thought this would be a problem. But as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she's not so sure anymore.

When I at first saw this book, I wasn't interested.
It was kind of like the "judge a book by it's cover" thing. But the cover wasn't the problem, the problem was... the title.
"The Raven Boys"
I don't know if it was just me, but for some reason that made me think that the book was about ravens... that are boys.
I found that weird, odd, and not very interesting.
But I kept seeing this book on Goodreads so I decided to see what was such a big deal.

As it turns out, this book is not about ravens that are boys!
It's about ghosts, a dead guy, and the hunt for the mysterious! (It's honestly very hard to explain what the book is about if you haven't read the book)
The strange thing is, there is NO ROMANCE in this book! Based on the synopsis you would think there would be romance...
"For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die." Sure, this might become more important further on in the series but this book seems to be more about what I will call "the hunt for the mysterious".
This book was an interesting read. But it was also confusing, there seemed to be a lot of parts that made no sense and parts that you might think are pointless but actually end up having a point. I know this makes no sense but there were a lot of times in the book where I had no idea what the heck was going on and my expression was a lot like this...

but overall, I give this book about 3.6 Wheels!
Meaning: I liked it... and it was amazing. But not extremely amazing.

REVIEW: Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

Why be the sheep, when you can be the wolf?

Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life, she must destroy the lives of others.

Ismae’s most important assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?

So when I heard that this book was about assassin nuns... This is what I was like:
It just sounded so ironic that I just had to read it!
I have no idea what exactly was going through my mind but for some reason when I heard "Assassin Nuns" I imagined a bunch of nuns with shades on carrying a gun and possibly also a briefcase.
JUST SO WE'RE CLEAR!
This book takes place in the 1400's so...
-No shades
-No guns
-No briefcase
So what exactly is this book about?
Our main character, Ismae, has just been put into an arranged marriage that has an unmentionable outcome but is rescued and taken into the convent of St. Mortain (The god of death). She is trained at how to kill a man in a variety of different ways so that she can carry out the work of Mortain and kill those that are "marked" by him. Shortly after finishing her training, Ismae is sent to the center of Brittany after rumor of betrayals to the duchess. Her job? Get rid of the betrayer.
This book was actually very interesting! Although it did start out slow and get a little bit confusing/annoying every now and then. IT WAS AMAZING!
My suggestion? Try reading it!
A word of CAUTION: This book is a BRICK! It's over 500 pages long! But please do not let that scare you!

I hereby give this book
4 Wheels!
Meaning: This book was Amazing!

Cover Clones

I am an extreme bookaholic. And for those of you who don't know, a bookaholic is someone who is addicted to reading books.
Something that is really important to me about books are the covers.
Sure, the story is the most important part but you have to have a decent cover in order for me to pick up the book in the first place.
Which is why I find "Cover Clones" so amusing.
"Cover Clones" are different books by different authors with same or very similar covers.
For example:

These are four different books but all of them have the same girl in a dress.

This is sadly, a very common thing. It's so common that I actually made a list full of them!
And you can find the list here
It turns out that there is a limit to how many books I can add to the list...
So if you know of any god websites where I can create a list like this, let me know.

What Happens When I Get Bored

I get bored very very easily. And when I get bored, I read books. But there are times when I do not have a book with me!!! So what do I do?
I doodle...

What's really sad about this is the fact that it only took me about 20 minutes to complete this...

P.S. I'm sorry if you can't read what it says.
