Cover Lust: On the Edge of Gone by Corinne Duyvis

Cover Lust is something that I do every week where I feature a book cover that I absolutely love!

On the Edge of GoneJanuary 29, 2035. That’s the day the comet is scheduled to hit—the big one.

Denise and her mother and sister, Iris, have been assigned to a temporary shelter outside their hometown of Amsterdam to wait out the blast, but Iris is nowhere to be found, and at the rate Denise’s drug-addicted mother is going, they’ll never reach the shelter in time.

A last-minute meeting leads them to something better than a temporary shelter: a generation ship, scheduled to leave Earth behind to colonize new worlds after the comet hits. But everyone on the ship has been chosen because of their usefulness. Denise is autistic and fears that she’ll never be allowed to stay. Can she obtain a spot before the ship takes flight? What about her mother and sister?

When the future of the human race is at stake, whose lives matter most?

Why did I pick this cover?
Despite the fact that this cover reminds me of From a Distant Star, I love this cover. The colors are lovely and the font/title treatment grabbed my attention. I also like how the girl is standing in the middle of the crumbling street and how she seems to be in front of the title.

Why did I pick this cover?
I have no idea what this book is about, but boy, is that a pretty cover. I love the natural look, with the flowers and petals and how the title is actually part of it! I also like the color scheme and how the darker shade of purple actually adds a little bit of darkness to the cover.

Cover Lust: The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

Cover Lust is something that I do every week where I feature a book cover that I absolutely love!

The Unexpected Everything
Andie had it all planned out.

When you are a politician’s daughter who’s pretty much raised yourself, you learn everything can be planned or spun, or both. Especially your future.

Important internship? Check.

Amazing friends? Check.

Guys? Check (as long as we’re talking no more than three weeks)

But that was before the scandal. Before having to be in the same house with her dad. Before walking an insane number of dogs. That was before Clark and those few months that might change her whole life.

Because here’s the thing - if everything's planned out, you can never find the unexpected.

And where’s the fun in that?
Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble

Why did I pick this cover?
I admit, part of the reason why I love this cover is the desperate yearning I have for this book, but it looks so fun! It screams summer and I love the clear photography, bright colors, and fun font! Also, DOGGIES!

Why did I pick this cover?
The other covers in this series are hideous, but I actually like this cover. I love the detail, the color scheme, and the interesting circles. I also really like that skirt/blanket thing. I'm really unsure what it is, but I love how textured it looks and how it seems to wither, like the title.

Cover Lust: Darker Still by Leanna Renee Hieber

Cover Lust is something that I do every week where I feature a book cover that I absolutely love!

Darker Still (Magic Most Foul, #1)I was obsessed.

It was as if he called to me, demanding I reach out and touch the brushstrokes of color swirled onto the canvas. It was the most exquisite portrait I'd ever seen--everything about Lord Denbury was unbelievable...utterly breathtaking and eerily lifelike.

There was a reason for that. Because despite what everyone said, Denbury never had committed suicide. He was alive. Trapped within his golden frame.

I've crossed over into his world within the painting, and I've seen what dreams haunt him. They haunt me too. He and I are inextricably linked--bound together to watch the darkness seeping through the gas-lit cobblestone streets of Manhattan. Unless I can free him soon, things will only get Darker Still.

Why did I pick this cover?
Oh, yes, the girl in the pretty dress, but that's not why I like this cover. I was really interested in learning more about this book when I first saw it because this cover is just so intriguing! The girl is walking into a framed painting! I love how that's shown!

Cover Lust: Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor

Cover Lust is something that I do every week where I feature a book cover that I absolutely love!

Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #2)
Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love and dared to imagine a world free of bloodshed and war.

This is not that world.

Art student and monster's apprentice Karou finally has the answers she has always sought. She knows who she is—and what she is. But with this knowledge comes another truth she would give anything to undo: She loved the enemy and he betrayed her, and a world suffered for it.

In this stunning sequel to the highly acclaimed Daughter of Smoke & Bone, Karou must decide how far she'll go to avenge her people. Filled with heartbreak and beauty, secrets and impossible choices, Days of Blood & Starlight finds Karou and Akiva on opposing sides as an age-old war stirs back to life.

While Karou and her allies build a monstrous army in a land of dust and starlight, Akiva wages a different sort of battle: a battle for redemption. For hope.

But can any hope be salvaged from the ashes of their broken dream?

Why did I pick this cover?
Out of all the Daughter of Smoke & Bone books, this one has my favorite cover. I love the pops of red among the gray scale! I love the detail on the patches! Also, this cover just doesn't look as awkward as the others in the series, at least to me.

Cover Lust: The Girl from Everywhere by Heidi Heilig

Cover Lust is something that I do every week where I feature a book cover that I absolutely love!

The Girl from Everywhere (The Girl from Everywhere, #1)
Heidi Heilig’s debut teen fantasy sweeps from modern-day New York City to nineteenth-century Hawaii to places of myth and legend. Sixteen-year-old Nix has sailed across the globe and through centuries aboard her time-traveling father’s ship. But when he gambles with her very existence, it all may be about to end. The Girl from Everywhere, the first of two books, will dazzle readers of Sabaa Tahir, Rae Carson, and Rachel Hartman.

Nix’s life began in Honolulu in 1868. Since then she has traveled to mythic Scandinavia, a land from the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, modern-day New York City, and many more places both real and imagined. As long as he has a map, Nix’s father can sail his ship, The Temptation, to any place, any time. But now he’s uncovered the one map he’s always sought—1868 Honolulu, before Nix’s mother died in childbirth. Nix’s life—her entire existence—is at stake. No one knows what will happen if her father changes the past. It could erase Nix’s future, her dreams, her adventures . . . her connection with the charming Persian thief, Kash, who’s been part of their crew for two years. If Nix helps her father reunite with the love of his life, it will cost her her own.

In The Girl from Everywhere, Heidi Heilig blends fantasy, history, and a modern sensibility with witty, fast-paced dialogue, breathless adventure, and enchanting romance.

Why did I pick this cover?
This cover is kind of simple, but I love how the wave travels across the cover, with the ship hanging on! I also love the contrast of the black and blue, the girl's face shown through the water, and how the text hangs from the left! Also, I really want to read this book!
