Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I'm Not Sure I Want To Read

Hosted each week by The Broke and the Bookish, it's a meme for listing the top ten for everything bookish.
The covers are linked to Goodreads!

I added this to my TBR list before it came out. I loved the cover and the synopsis sounded really interesting!
Then all the negative reviews came in...

I own a copy of this book, but it's an adult book and I'm always afraid of reading those.

Same thing as The Kite Runner.

I read the first book and I kind of liked it, but I don't know if I want to invest in the entire series.

I hear nothing but praise for this book!
But it's a New Adult book and I avoid those like the plague!

I liked the previous two books, but I read them before I found out that the author is basically a big jerk.
I don't think I'll be able to continue the series knowing the who the person behind the books is.

This sounds interesting, but I did not like Starcrossed, which is by the same author, AT ALL!
So, I'm worried about this one.

I'm not quite sure why I'm so iffy about this one.
I think it's because there's supposedly a ton of 80's references and I know hardly anything about the 80's.

I've read Ender's Game and I did like it, but I kind of feel that it's better as a standalone.

This is basically the same thing as Tumble & Fall.
I've just heard too many negative reviews for it.

So, What books are you really iffy about reading?

  1. I don't think the Series of Unfortunate Events is worth continuing, especially since you're above the age group. I read them as a kid and I was very unsatisfied with the final book. To read 13 books, only to be screwed over at the end really pissed me off. -__-

    1. Yeah. Unless I'm really really bored, I'm probably not continuing the series. If it was a shorter series, maybe, but I son't feel like reading all 13 of them!

  2. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one afraid of adult books! :P I've been wanting to read Attachments by Rainbow Rowell for a while, but since it's adult...
I also have the same reason for not wanting to read Ready Player One. I feel like all the references would just go over my head completely.
My parents really enjoy the Lorien Legacies books (strangely enough), but I've only read the first one. And after hearing about Full Fathom Five, I don't really want to continue the series unfortunately.

    1. I'm debating about reading Attachments as well!
And Full Fathom Five kind of ruined the series for me :(

  3. Tumble and Fall is a book that is definitely on my not sure list as well. I got scared off by all the negative reviews. Series of Unfortunate Events is a series that I read through a few years ago, and while it was really great, I hated the ending with a burning passion. So, maybe it's better if you don't continue with those...

    1. I'm probably going just stop with the Unfortunate Events. I really hate it when a series doesn't end correctly!

  4. Kite Runner and Lovely Bones were both good (Kite Runner, esp!) but they are both REALLY difficult subject matter, emotionally! You kind of have to be ready to deal with them, you know? I thought Lovely Bones was an easier read, though. Good list!
