RECENT COVER REVEALS: June 2014 Edition

June was cover reveal month! Meaning: we got a lot of new pretties!

Tether (Many Worlds #2)
Tether (Many-Worlds, #2) by Anna Jarzab
 I LOVE THIS!!
I'm sorry, but this cover is just took beautiful! The color scheme is beautiful and do I detect stars?

King (The Dragon King Chronicles #3)
King (The Dragon King Chronicles, #3) by Ellen Oh
The crown looks like it's made of candy...

Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles #0.1)
Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles, #0.1)
What am I looking at?

The Sorcerer Heir (The Heir Chronicles #5
The Sorcerer Heir (The Heir Chronicles, #5)
Floating object, yay.

Polaris (Avalon #2
Polaris (Avalon #2) by Mindee Arnett
It's basically the first book in reverse color.

The Orphan Queen (Untitled #1)
The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows
It's pretty, but what is going on???

A Cold Legacy (The Madman's Daughter #3
A Cold Legacy (The Madman's Daughter, #3) by Megan Shepherd
Meh.
It matches the other covers, but it's not interesting at all.

Etherworld (Elusion #2)
Etherworld (Elusion #2) by Claudia Gabel, Cheryl Klam
I love the colors!
And I think it's pretty cool that in the first book the colors were inside the circle, while this is the opposite.

The Cemetery Boys
The Cemetery Boys by Heather Brewer
I don't know why, but I hate that font.

The Prey (The Hatchery #1)
The Prey (The Hatchery, #1) by Tom Isbell
Pretty cool.
The lasers keep distracting me.

Heartlines
Heartlines by Nicole Maggi
Meh.
It's a face (which no eyes or forehead) and then the title.
Not particularly interesting.

The Boy with the Hidden Name (Otherworld #2
The Boy with the Hidden Name (Otherworld #2) by Skylar Dorset
Pretty cool, but it's basically the first cover flipped.

The Distance Between Lost and Found
The Distance Between Lost and Found by Kathryn Holmes
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!!!
Enough said.

SeaMonster (The Aquarathi #1.5)
SeaMonster (The Aquarathi #1.5) by Amalie Howard
That guy just looks so awkward.

My Heart and Other Black Holes
My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga
This cover is so adorable! Which is weird considering that it's about suicide.

Quake (Pulse #3
Quake (Pulse #3) by Patrick Carman
What exactly is that thing that's floating?
Is it a building?

What Waits in the Woods
What Waits in the Woods by Kieran Scott
I just love the creepy look to this cover!

Shutter
Shutter by Courtney Alameda
*hides*

Pretty Wanted (Pretty Crooked #3
Pretty Wanted (Pretty Crooked #3) by Elisa Ludwig
BORING!
I'm still upset that they changed the covers in this series!

Everything That Makes You
Everything That Makes You by Moriah McStay
At first, I wasn't a fan, but after reading the synopsis, I see this cover as genius.

The Bargaining
The Bargaining by Carly Anne West
Pretty average looking cover.
It's nice, but there are lots of covers that look simailar.

Glass Arrow (Untitled Trilogy #1)
Glass Arrow (Untitled Trilogy #1) by Kristen Simmons
I don't know why, but this reminds me of Shadow and Bone.
The covers are completely different, but I guess they both have this simplistic style.

Forged (Taken #3
Forged (Taken #3) by Erin Bowman
I love love LOVE the covers in this series. The colors are just so amazing!

Lie for Me (Find Me #0.5)
Lie for Me by Romily Bernard
This is actually really good for a novella.
If it weren't for the HarperTeen Impulse banner, I would not know it was a novella.

Ghost House (The Ghost House Saga #1)
Ghost House (The Ghost House Saga #1) by Alexandra Adornetto
This is practically the same as the stand-in cover for before the cover reveal. Just add awkwardly standing person and some trees.

Soulless (Death Warden #1)
Soulless by Amber Garr
This is pretty neat.

Lifer
Lifer by Beck Nicholas
What is happening here? There's stars, some grass, a skyline, some UFO things, and some people playing Across the Universe. What's going on?!

The Third Twin
The Third Twin by CJ Omololu
Looks so creepy, yet not creepy, but it makes me want to know more!

Monstrous
Monstrous by MarcyKate Connolly Yeah, I know this is Middle Grade but it sounds cool.
This is really cute and it kind of has a weird old-ish look to it.

The Girl at Midnight (The Girl at Midnight #1)
The Girl at Midnight (The Girl at Midnight, #1) by Melissa Grey
It's just so purple.
Almost too purple...

The Last Time We Say Goodbye
The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand
It bores me and I probably wouldn't pick it up at the bookstore if it weren't by Cynthia Hand, but after reading the synopsis, the cover makes more sense.

The Book of Days
The Book of Days by K.A. Barker
This looks like it'll be a very fun book!

Liars, Inc
Liars, Inc by Paula Stokes
This is very cool. Just saying, no complaints on this cover.

Transcendent (Starling #3)
Transcendent (Starling #3) by Lesley Livingston
She looks so pissed off.
That will probably make sense in the book, but on the cover she just looks pissed off at the flowers.

Empire of Night (Age of Legends #2
Empire of Night (Age of Legends, #2) by Kelley Armstrong
Gosh that thing is creepy *shudders*

All That Burns (All That Glows #2
All That Burns (All That Glows, #2) by Ryan Graudin
Isn't this series about faeries? Why does this look like a contemporary book?
And the first book had a pink tone to everything, they should have done a similar thing with this cover.

Unleashed (Uninvited #2)
Unleashed (Uninvited #2) by Sophie Jordan
Please tell me that I'm not the only one who thinks that she looks like Bridgit Mendler

Sorceress (Spellcaster #3
Sorceress (Spellcaster #3) by Claudia Gray
Probably the best in the series so far, but I can't say anything else.
It's a girl in a dress, nothing to it.

A Break of Day (A Shade of Vampire #7)
A Break of Day (A Shade of Vampire #7) by Bella Forrest
It matches the other books? I don't really have an opinion on this cover.

With Tide and Tempest (Secrets of Itlantis #3
With Tide and Tempest (Secrets of Itlantis #3) by Kate Avery Ellison
It's pretty, but why is she posed like that? What is the purpose of balancing on one leg like that?

Four Houses
Four Houses by Victoria Scott
I love this covers! The colors on the black background. The four doors that tie-in to the title. In fact, you can't even tell that this is a cover for a short story.

Ensnared (Splintered #3)
Ensnared (Splintered #3) by A.G. Howard
This cover kind of creeps me out, mostly due to the heart on his eye (I know the significance, but still), I'll probably grow to liking it, I used to hate the cover for Unhinged too, but now...

Captive (The Blackcoat Rebellion #2)
Captive (The Blackcoat Rebellion #2) by Aimée Carter
I actually like this better than the previous book. I like the maze and the fact that we are slowly seeig more of the face.

Instinct (Chronicles of Nick #6)
Instinct (Chronicles of Nick #6) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Well, it matches? I can't really say anything more than that. This is just one of those series where all the books look the same to me.

Still Point (Awaken #3)
Still Point (Awaken #3) by Katie Kacvinsky
*Yawns*
I'm sorry, but this cover, while pretty, isn't particularly interesting. Especially compared to the other books in the series.

Link to Middle Ground (book 2)

Ignite (Defy #2)
Ignite (Defy #2) by Sara B. Larson
The colors and the bow and arrow remind me of Valentine's Day, which probably was not intentional.
Link to Defy (book 1)

Mirror X (The Van Winkle Project #1)
Mirror X (The Van Winkle Project #1) by Karri Thompson
I love the colors on this covers and the strange contract between the two sides!
Link to Mirror X

The Map to Everywhere
The Map to Everywhere by Carrie Ryan & John Parke Davis (Yes, I know this is Middle Grade, but I want to read it)
I have no idea what that girl is doing, but whatever, it's still a cute middle grade cover.

The Shadow Cabinet (Shades of London #3)
The Shadow Cabinet (Shades of London #3) by Maureen Johnson
To be honest, I don't care what this cover looks like.
I'm just happy that this book is FINALLY coming out!
It's been almost 2 years since I've read the last book (I'll be 2 1/2 by the time this comes out)!
And that book ended cin a really bad cliffhanger! So, yeah for this book!

Sleep of Death (Sleep No More #2)
Sleep of Death (Sleep No More #2) by Aprilynne Pike
I actually prefer this cover over the first book. Which is kind of weird since this one is self-published.

Waistcoats and Weaponry (Finishing School #3)
Waistcoats and Weaponry (Finishing School #3) by Gail Carriger
It looks great. Though it seems that the girl doesn't fully fit onto the background. It looks like copy and paste to me. Yes, I know that that's probably what the designers did, but you are not supposed to be able to tell that.

So, which one is your favorite?

  1. They're all absolutely stunning! The cover for 'Fairest' is definitely my favourite though! It just looks so haunting and terrifying and yet sad at the same time! 'The Distance Between Lost and Found' also looks really good! Great post :)
