Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Things That I Want In Some Books

Hosted each week by The Broke and the Bookish, it's a meme for listing the top ten for everything bookish.

I need more books with the following:

1. Unicorns
There is a lack of YA books with unicorns! Why is this?
Unicorns are AMAZING!! Yet I have only seen 1 or 2 unicorn books!
LET US FIX THIS PROBLEM!

2. Parallel Universes
While there are more Parallel Universe books than Unicorn books, I can NEVER get enough of these!
I find the idea of universes that are the same yet different so intriguing!

3. Paranormal Romance Books that are NOT Twilight copies
Come on, authors!
So many of the paranormal romance books I've read lately just seem like Twilight copies!
Just with Greek Mythology or Angels or whatever else.
Can we please get something else?

4. Just No More Copies
No more Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Divergent, or whatever else you feel like copying.
Those books are cool, but I would be much MUCH happier with original stuff!

5. Plot Twists that BLOW MY MIND
Basically, I want to see that plot twists that I will never see coming!

6. Aliens
I have a minor obsession with aliens.
I will always want more alien books...

7. Time Travel
Same as aliens, I have a minor obsession.
(and people wonder why I like Doctor Who!)

8. Characters that Make Me Laugh
I don't care if the book is about the frexing apocalypse! I WANT TO LAUGH!

9. The Afterlife
I just find books about the afterlife very interesting.
Can I have more, please?

10. YA books with No/Little Romance
I'm usually fine with romance, but almost EVERY SINGLE YA book has romance in it (sometimes randomly). Can I get some without the romance?

There's probably a lot more that I'm forgetting about, but what I mainly want is this: Original Ideas.
I will be happy with that.

  1. No copies -- wouldn't that be nice?? It seems like everything's been done before -- that's why original novels are so refreshing when you find them. Good luck with that!

  2. I love your list, so many things I'd love to see too. Since reading Alienated and Obsidian, I now have an alien obsession too. I also had more parallel universes on my list too, I want something very Sliding Doors like, but for young adults. Great choices :)

    My TTT :)

  3. Brilliant list, I don't think I've read a unicorn book, unless you count Anne McCaffrey's Acorna series. If you haven't read it, it's about a girl from a species that resembles unicorns. Does that count?

  4. I think I put unicorns on my wishlist, too. And number 10 - yes please! I'm so tired of books that are categorized as other genres, such as dystopian, but are really romances.
